Week 1

So far it is good. I have made a lot of new friends, most are from my district, and 5 elders and one sister are going to be serving in Boston from my district. And I have made 4 really good latino friends also, 1 from Honduras and 3 from Mexico. They are so funny, and I am the bridge between the Americans and the Latinos because I am the only one who can understand and speak Spanish well of the Elders in my district. We call each other the "cabras" which means "goats" all the time and I am not exactly sure why, but we do and it is awesome. They have helped my spanish unbelievably and I really cannot believe how much my ability to understand spanish has improved. My companion is a really solid guy, I like him a lot. His great grandfather is actually Gordon B. Hinckley. But he is pretty much just the right mix of Peter Priesthood and slackness, but if anything a little more Peter Priesthood. He is awesome and I think we are companions for a reason. His name is Elder Benson and he is from Utah. The music on my ipod is a hit! We started speaking spanish the day after we arrived, but they did not really expect us to be speaking is 24\7 at all this week. Most of the people here have little to no spanish experience and are on ground 1 when they start. Everyone thinks I have been here much longer when they hear me speak, and I can understand almost every person I talk to here, even the construction workers and natives. We started teaching discussions on thursday is Spanish, and each time I improve a ton. I do not have to write down a script anymore, I can pretty much sit down and cover a few points in Spanish and answer questions no problem. 6 weeks here at the MTC sounds like way too much time for me, but my teacher told me that this time here is an opportunity to perfect my spanish rather than just learn it like most of the elders. Yes I am always very tired, something about this place just sucks the energy out of you, but I am fine. There were probably 30 missionaries with me on that plane, but I sat next to a very quiet one and a random woman so it was a quiet flight for me. Right now, all is well, I have everything I really need. But I would love to have some pictures of you all, I miss your faces.
